Prerequisites
Description
There is no sailing skills part to this Standard. Practical application
of this sailing knowledge is used in the Advanced Coastal
Cruising course.
Lectures and practical exercises are conducted during 16 hours
of class time and augmented by homework. You can also take this course
by home study.
Subjects include chart reading and interpretation, government
publications, navigation instruments, use of tide and current tables,
plotting of bearings, fixes, running fixes, dead reckoning, drift,
set, and much more.
Students successfully completing this course can receive ASA certification
and will possess the theory and knowledge to make meaningful use of coastal
navigation and plotting information.
