Description

Tradewinds Sailing School, in partnership with Mariners Learning System, is offering live classroom training intended to help mariners prepare for and meet the testing requirements for an OUPV (Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel) “Six Pack” license. Our course, instructor, test questions and facility are USCG approved and provide an alternative to self-study, on-line courses and the testing process at USCG Regional Exam Centers.

Our three weekend, 56 hour OUPV course is designed to give you the hands-on-know-how to obtain your license with plenty of time for plotting practice and test question review. The course consists of three modules: Rules-of-the-Road, Navigation and Plotting, and Deck General. We also walk you through the process of getting your license and meeting commercial vessel equipment requirements. The course is followed by a 4 hour testing night, satisfying USCG requirements.

Materials provided include three text books, plotting tools, practice chart, abbreviated Light List, OUPV license requirement checklist and soft-cover carrying case.

* Note: An OUPV license is required for those wishing to offer sailing instruction, deliveries, fishing and sailing charters, drive a dive boat, or run sightseeing tours, etc. This license is commonly referred to as a “Six Pack” because it allows the holder to take up to six paying passengers.
