Location!.....Location!....Location!
In Real Estate they say "Location is Everything".....and the same can be said for learning to sail. If you do not have the right conditions to learn, it can be a long and arduous process.
Brickyard Cove Marina
We are based at Brickyard Cove Marina in Point Richmond on the San Francisco
Bay. Surrounded by luxurious waterfront homes in an area known as the Richmond
Riviera, we have one of the finest locations in the Bay Area.

Our sailing area is protected by Tiburon and Angel Island, so we usually
have sunny weather, smooth water and steady breezes. Some clubs try to say
being located in windier, colder and foggier parts of the bay is a good idea.
We think "the slot" may be a nice place to visit, but we wouldn't want to
begin sailing there.
Our beginner's area is quiet enough for the juniors of Richmond Yacht Club
to sail on. We can, therefore, put our beginners on the water AFTER ONLY 4
DAYS OF INSTRUCTION. From Brickyard Cove, the most challenging parts of the
bay are only a few minutes away, but you won't have to wear foul weather gear
just to leave the dock
The "Richmond Riviera"
Marina Bay
Next to Brickyard Cove on the Richmond Riviera is Marina
Bay Yacht Harbor,
and we have boats there, too. Marina Bay is a modern facility with wide
concrete docks, surrounded by new homes and waterview condos. There are
several grassy areas and parks with barbeques surrounding the marina, with
walking paths throughout.
Marina Bay enjoys the same great weather as Brickyard
Cove, plus it has a larger protected basin.

What is Winehaven? the Ford Plant? Southhampton Shoal? Our instructor
Lance Batten has
put together a very cool interactive webpage that
shows you these locations on the Bay and more.
Folsom Lake
Folsom Lake Marina, which is one of the largest inland marinas in
California, is located in Browns Ravine at Folsom Lake State Recreational
Area. It is the only Marina on Folsom Lake and is open year round.
The whole Browns Ravine area is operated by a concessionaire for the
State Park System.
Located within its snack bar area, the marina also has both a
small bait and tackle shop and a marine supply store. It offers most
the items required by law to keep both you and your boat safe and legal.
The Marina is located at the south end of the lake and has an earth
filled breakwater protecting it from the main lake. The Hobie Cove
ramp is a low water ramp that goes into operation when the lake elevation
drops to elevation 435'. It also is a four lane paved ramp with two courtesy
docks.
Picnic tables and Bar-B-Qs are located throughout the Browns Ravine
area. Fires are only allowed in the designated fire areas. Swimming
and sun bathing in the Hobie Cove area of Browns Ravine is a popular
sport. It should be noted that there no life guards on duty at Browns
Ravine.
Though the Browns Ravine is operated by a concessionaire, it is still
part of the State Park and all State
Park fees apply. State Annual Passes are sold at the marina office,
both during the week and on weekends.
